The iconic Casino Building in Avalon, which loosely translated means “gathering place “ in Italian is unquestionably one of the loveliest wedding venues on the California coast. Opened in 1929, this 12-story building has helped create a mood of style and romance that has become synonymous with Catalina Island. This Art Deco structure has graced the Avalon waterfront for many decades and can lend true glamour to any wedding.

The circular ballroom on the top floor retains its original romantic style, which is a mixture of rose-hued walls, an arching fifty-foot ceiling with five Tiffany chandeliers and an elevated stage. It features raised seating around the dance floor on the upper perimeter with an eye-appealing epoch bar on the entrance side of the ballroom. Outside the ballroom running around the building is a sweeping verandah with breath-taking 360-degree views of the town of Avalon and the coastline. The Casino can truly evoke wedding magic inside and out.

The ballroom holds up to 800 people for a seated affair and yet can downscale to an intimate wedding reception/dinner of 150 or more easily as the artistic space can be refigured by the expert service staff. Poised on a knoll overlooking romantic Avalon, the landmark Catalina Visitors Country Club is a striking example of Early California Revival architecture, with distressed cream-colored walls, deep green trim, and a Spanish-tile roof.

The central sunny brick patio is ideal for weddings as it features a gracious staircase suitable for a stately bridal entrance. After the ceremony, the charming back patio is perfect for your reception. As well, there is an adjacent conference room, which works nicely for a smaller intimate gathering. The guests will sit on wrought-iron chairs to view the vows.

Lush foliage, the lilting melody of songbirds and refreshing island breezes stir the senses for a daytime wedding. It is easy to see why outdoor receptions are so popular here. For evening weddings, the starry sky above will add a lovely halo of romance for your guests as the courtyard is open to the night air.

Equally memorable rehearsal dinners can be held in the chic, Mission-style Dining Room, where arched windows open to the hills and ocean-side verandahs. Elaborate chandeliers from South America hang from the wood-beamed ceiling.

Descanso Beach and the terraced lawn that gently slopes down to the water is the ideal place to hold an outdoor wedding for 50-300 people. The gazebo like stage fronting the bay lends that magical appeal to a seaside wedding. The Descanso Beach club is Catalina’s only private oceanfront venue for catered affairs.

This lush grassy lawn is perfect for a casual, informal wedding, large or intimate. You will be able to exchange wedding vows on the platform with the turquoise waters of the Pacific Ocean as the backdrop. The entire area will be fenced for total privacy for your special.

For the post ceremony reception or sit down meal function, you will be able to choose a myriad of themed buffet options. The ambience is perfect for any type of music, however, Steel drums, tiki torches and the ocean breezes can create the total ambiance for a tropical Island wedding ceremony and reception.
